Blessed

A benefit of moving to Portugal is that it brings us more than twice as close to our families as when we were in Abu Dhabi.

Now that we’re settled I managed to get back to UK and for the first time hold my new grand-daughter Maple, born in February.  The bonus was that I got to see all my four grandchildren at the same time.  No words to describe ……

"That’s a peach hon"

Those familiar with the cult (no, that’s not a typo) movie “Caddyshack” will remember this classic line http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P2neeaeO2dY

I’ve actually found a better use for our peaches which should keep us happy until the lemon harvest begins.  Peach schnapps – delicious with vanilla ice-cream (or without)

It ain’t ‘alf ‘ot Mum

After an unusually cold Winter and Spring we were looking forward to a nice warm Summer.  The last few days however have been worthy of the Emirates at this time of year, peaking at 38C the other day.  My erstwhile work colleague Othman has however black-catted (none intended) that with the pictured view of his car dashboard yesterday.  Ramadan Kareem !

Building update

In an earlier post we eagerly anticipated our new bathroom – the one week wonder.  That was three months ago and of course we should have known better.  Over a two month period the builders have:
a.         Managed to take a chunk out of the rather expensive sink unit
b.         Had to relay the shower floor as the water did not fully drain away
c.         Shattered (whilst unpacking) the also rather expensive shower cabinet glass

We still await closure, which is rather disconcerting as they arrive tomorrow to commence the demolition and re-build of our kitchen – what could possibly go wrong ?
